We are so excited! Our new home wares store, inkaarten is open for business.

inkaarten, from the dutch, “to map” is a new pairing from husband and wife, Bob and Sherry Truitt.

It’s the perfect combination of vintage maps from Sherry’s anything but conventional jewelry and Bob’s metal work and carpentry skill.

In an effort to leave a lighter footprint on the earth, recycled steel and copper are used whenever possible, as well as ecopoxycraftresin© , a 100% solid-based, thermosetting resin made from soybeans, beans and peanuts.

We chose vintage maps ( from our ever widening collection of rescued atlases)for our home wares to capture memories of adventures and explorations of a life time. Our work celebrates brides and grooms as well as couples that have adopted from a faraway place and couples who are celebrating milestone anniversaries. We also use vintage ephemera to enhance both the beauty and oddities among us.

We hope to be stocked by the end of April and invite you to stop by anytime to see what’s new.

The Japanese word “gaman” means to bear the seemingly unbearable with dignity and patience.

My store proudly supports Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). MSF is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971. MSF’s work is based on the humanitarian principles of medical ethics and impartiality. The organization is committed to bringing quality medical care to people caught in crisis regardless of race, religion, or political affiliation.
